If you’re looking for a smartphone that gets you what you need at a lower cost, then you might want to check out this new Motorola Droid Razr M. This is not one of the topnotch phones from Motorola but might be considered on the mid-range bracket. Let’s take a look.
Motorola Droid Razr M overall look and build
At first glance, the Motorola Droid Razr M looks a bit small when compared to other phones that have a 4.3 inch screen. Well, that was made possible by Motorola through their edge to edge display technology. Meaning, they utilized the edges of the phone to fit the screen, so you now have lesser margin between the phone and the edges. Moreover, you will notice the Kevlar design at the back which adds to the tough overall look of the phone.
Looking at the front, you’ll see the Motorola branding and to the right is a 1.3MP front facing camera, built in microphone at the bottom and of course the screen. On the back is an 8MP camera with LED flash, beside it is a stereo speaker, and a Motorola logo on the middle. Now checking at the sides, on the right is a power button, and the volume rocker with some screws that are showing to get the industrial look and feel. While on the left side is a door that houses your SIM card, and a micro SD card slot for expansion up to 32GB. Additionally, you have the micro USB 2.0 slot at the bottom of the flap. At the top is a 3.5mm headphone jack to listen to music and all that good stuff.
Motorola Droid Razr M specifications
Aside from being a 4.3 inch screen, the display is also a super AMOLED qHD that has a screen resolution of 960 x 540, and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2, so it is scratch and crack resistant even when you place it on your pocket with keys. For your connectivity, you have Bluetooth, WiFi, and 4G for faster web browsing while using cellular data. Then looking at the dimensions, it is 60.9mm in width by 122.5mm in height by 8.3mm in depth and weighs around 4.4 ounces. Moving on to the battery, the Motorola Droid Razr M is using a huge 2000mAH Lithium Ion battery that has a standby time of up to 408 hours while during mixed usage, it can last approximately 20 hours.
Under the hood, is a 1.5GHz Dual core Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon S4 for the processor, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, 8GB of internal memory for storage and is running on Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box but could be upgraded to an Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
Conclusion
Overall, it has a tough build, and sleek design especially for those users that are looking for a rugged looking phone. As expected, it loads apps quickly, and great phone when using it with one hand. On the contrary, I would like to emphasize on the bloatware that are included on the software, like the amazon app store and other amazon applications that could not be deleted, unless you’re not troubled with that, then you might like the Motorola Droid Razr M. Finally, although the camera captures 1080p videos and good at settings with more lighting, but shooting it in dimmed locations is not that impressive. Priced at approximately $549.99 is not bad at all for the performance you get out of the Motorola Droid Razr M.
