The competition in the world of android devices is so fierce that it’s unmatchable. There are multiple players in the OEM market and each one has to out-do others and themselves all the time. This is especially true in the budget segment of 10-15 k market which is all about what value you provide for cheap rates. The customer has only one thing in his mind: Best bang for his buck.
Let us have a look at the budget device from ASUS which was released recently, the Asus Zenfone Max Pro.
Display and Build quality: This device packs a 6 inch IPS LCD display with the new 18:9 aspect ratio. It looks great with less bezels and has some great viewing angles too. The build quality too is top notch with metallic design. It feels really good and lightweight in hand as it is 180 gms. Fingerprint scanner is placed on the rear. There’s also face unlock feature if you are not fond of fingerprint scanners. There’s no gorilla glass support for the display.
Specifications: It packs a snapdragon 636 octa-core processor which is lightning fast and is the best your money can buy at this price point. The phone is really snappy due to this. It has two variants of 3GB/4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of internal storage. Gaming on this device is found to be really good with minor heating in extreme use. The cellular reception quality is top notch on this phone as it gives a really good signal even at weak areas of network. It has real dual sim 4G that enables 4G in both the nano SIM cards. External microSD card is supported up to 2TB.
Camera: There are two cameras at the rear, one 13 MP and the other 5 MP. It supports Bokeh effect. The camera quality is really good even in low light. The front camera is 8 MP and the quality is not that great. It supports 1080p Full HD video recording which is a must in these days of technologically savvy people all over. The speaker is found to be good but no stereo quality.
Software: As usual, this ASUS device comes with ZEN UI skin on top of Android 8.1. It comes with lot of pre-installed ASUS apps too. Android Oreo works really well with the high power snapdragon processor. ASUS also promise bi-monthly security patches and updates to keep the phone up to date.
Battery Life: The battery on this device is huge with 5000 mAh supported which is a must these days. It easily lasts more than one day on average use. This is really bang for your buck.
This phone comes in at INR 10,999 for the 3GB variant.
Verdict: As we have seen there is a lot going for this device in this price range. With real fast snapdragon processor and massive battery this device is really a bang for your buck. The only downside might be the front facing camera which could have been better. It is probably the best device at this time in this price point. Go for it.
